MANDELA TO NIGERIA...

MANDELA TO NIGERIA...

“YOU know I am not very happy with Nigeria. I have made that very clear on many occasions. Yes, Nigeria stood by us more than any nation, but you let yourselves down, and Africa and the black race very badly. Your leaders have no respect for their people. They believe that their personal interests are the interests of the people. They take people’s resources and turn it into personal wealth. There is a level of poverty in Nigeria that should be unacceptable. I cannot understand why Nigerians are not more angry than they are.

“What do young Nigerians think about your leaders and their country and Africa? Do you teach them history? Do you have lessons on how your past leaders stood by us and gave us large amounts of money? You know I hear from Angolans and Mozambicans and Zimbabweans how your people opened their hearts and their homes to them. I was in prison then, but we know how your leaders punished western companies who supported Apartheid.

“What about the corruption and the crimes? Your elections are like wars. Now we hear that you cannot be president in Nigeria unless you are Muslim or Christian. Some people tell me your country may break up. Please don’t let it happen.
“Let me tell you what I think you need to do. You should encourage leaders to emerge who will not confuse public office with sources of making personal wealth. Corrupt people do not make good leaders. Then you have to spend a lot of your resources for education.

“Educate children of the poor, so that they can get out of poverty. Poverty does not breed confidence. Only confident people can bring changes. Poor, uneducated people can also bring change, but it will be hijacked by the educated and the wealthy...give young Nigerians good education. Teach them the value of hard work and sacrifice, and discourage them from crimes which are destroying your image as a good people.”

Biography of Yusuf Maitama Sule; the dan Masanin Kano.

DAN MASANIN KANO'S PROFILE

Dr. Maitama Sule’s was born in 1929 in Kano state and had so many children, he was a school teacher in his early career, was elected in 1954 to the Federal House of Representatives. In 1958 he became the Kano Native Authority’s Chief Information Officer and in 1959 the Federal Minister of Mines and Power, serving until the military delegation to the Addis Ababa Conference of Independent African States in 1960 and was also a member of the first Nigerian delegation to the United Nations the same year. When Nigeria created states in 1967, he became Commissioner for Local Government, then moved to the Ministry of Forestry, Co-operatives and Community Development and finally to that of Information.
At Public Complaints Commission: The rise of economic nationalism during the 1970s led to the enactment of a decree stipulating minimum requirements for local content in many companies doing business in Nigeria. To capitalize on the benefits of indigenous control of the economy, many permanent secretaries, federal commissioners, state governors and their cronies established firms to conduct business with the government. It was with the intent of patching the revolving door and to stem small time corruption that the public complaints commission was created in 1975. It was meant to hear and tackle complaints fielded by the common man in a simple and efficient manner. Maitama Sule, as head of the commission was known to have taken his job seriously, partly because he was a potent political commodity and had a lot to gain from the good will of the people when a transition to civilian rule was in place. As a result of the commission’s effort, corruption during the period was temporarily curtailed.
After, the re-election of President Shagari in 1983, Maitama Sule was made the Minister for National Guidance, a portfolio designed to assist the president in tackling corruption. He as a major reason for the incursion returned to a familiar role, this time under a democratic government as the head of a ministry to tackle corruption. The new but short-lived ministry was created solely to invest time in an ethical re-orientation of Nigerians. Maitama, who had acquired a solid reputation as a tough U.N representative, when he was chairman of a U.N. special committee on apartheid was asked to lead the ministry. However, his appointment was not satisfactory to critics. Shagari’s administration was removed by a coup, with the coupists citing corruption
Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule was quoted to have said,
“Everyone has a gift from God. The Northerners are endowed by God with leadership qualities. The Yoruba man knows how to earn a living and has diplomatic qualities. The Igbo man is gifted in trade, commerce, and technological innovation. God so created us equally with purpose and different gifts.”
The statement has been used by some to stir up fears of northern political domination in the country. Alhaji Yusuf MAITAMA SULE, became Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations, who presented his credentials to Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim. Maitama Sule’s was also assign as representative of the President of Nigeria to the Lancaster House Talks on Zimbabwe in London and also Counsel African Leaders On Zimbabwe Crisis.
A former Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule who was part of the delegates to the Lancaster talks that ushered in black rule in Zimbabwe, has called on African leaders to be honest, just and fair in seeking a lasting solution to the Southern African Country political crisis.
In his words, “I do hope that the African leaders would summon courage and be honest enough to tell President Robert Mugabe what he should have done and tell him what he has done wrong. Because unless we tell ourselves the truth, we will never get out of the woods, we will have to do that”.
Alhaji Sule who spoke extensively on several other issues on Voice of Nigeria Current Affairs Programme “Global Guest On VON” told a team of journalists that it was necessary that African leaders realize the need to promote good governance, rule of law and other democratic norms.
He said that without free, fair elections and peaceful environment for people to freely express their rights, the sustainability of Democracy would be under threat in Africa.
The retired Diplomat who had been involved in high profile peace negotiations across the world also recalled his involvements in finding solution to the Sudan crisis in the 60s adding that lack of trust and injustice has been stalling progress in achieving peace in the Central African Country.
He was quoted as saying that “It is like the case of Sudan in 1964, I led the Nigerian delegation to the conference of Southern Sudan with the rest of Sudan. I told them look, unless you exalt yourself to do justice, be fair with one another and patient with one another, you will never get out of the woods”.
When he was asked about Nigeria politics and democracy, he said in his own view and as an advocated of change, the current system of governance is to reflect the peoples way of life and other critical issues in our national life. The elder statesman who served as minister under Shagari’s administration, said rather than stick to the western form of democracy which has proved very ineffective, our leaders should summon the courage to midwife a workable model that is indigenous and in tune with practical realities.
“What Nigeria needs now is good leadership to develop and excel. Nigeria wants good leaders not rulers, for it to take its pride of place in Africa, a country without good leadership cannot have good government,” he said.

A Quote from Alhaji Maitama Sule in an interview with NTA

A Quote from Alhaji Maitama Sule in an interview with NTA

"Today we are no longer what we were; what is happening today is not in our character.

The norms and values left by Sardauna and our founding fathers are no longer with us, they are not with us.

Today as I have often described the situation, the institution of family has broken down, respect for elders and constituted authority which used to be our cardinal principle in our society - is now at its lowest ebb.

Honesty, where it does not pay has become meaningless; symptoms of revolt loom large in the horizon.

In short, there is meaninglessness in in philosophy, insecurity in polity, chaos in politics, immorality in society, corruption in economy, frustration in art and lack of creativity in literature.

This is not what North used to be or Nigeria as a whole, ours was a decent country whose leaders respected one another in spite of their political differences.

Ours was a society that was morally sound, was a society in which all of us were our brother’s keepers; it is not the same today.

Perhaps, some people say we have been brain-washed by our erstwhile colonial masters, it is true to a certain extent, but we are to a very large extent to blame, because we are masters of our faith, we should be captains of our souls.

Today, as I have said we are no longer ourselves, our cultural values has been thrown overboard, if a people lose their culture - culture is the identity of the people, people often mistake culture as mare dancing and singing, it is much more than that. Culture is the customs and costumes, the characters and characteristics, the manners and mannerisms, the philosophy and ideology of a people, culture is the totality of a people’s experience, culture is the way of life of the people.

In those days we adhere to the culture of the people, we had an identity, we had respect for one another, our society was morally sound, there was little corruption and so on and so forth. However, in spite of the ugly picture I have painted, I believe we can still get out of the woods, I am not a pessimist I am an optimist, I believe that if we can revive the glory of the past, by reminding us of the good achievements - the success Sardauna and his likes, of our founding fathers, if we recall what Sardauna did and emulate his example, we can certainly revive the glory of the past.

I am beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel... and I DO HOPE THE STRUGGLE WILL CONTINUE."

May Allah let his gentle soul keep resting in perfect peace ........Ameen @@@@jaxeee

Dirty affairs between Hadiza Gabon And Governor Bindow. Anonymous Reporter.

-The recent visit by Adamawa Governor Mr. Bindow's mistress Hadiza Gabon after the landing of the 2nd tranche of N6.1B Paris club refund has backfired.
-The governor visited Hadiza Gabon at Madugu hotel for their usual dirty atrocities and left only N50, 000 after enjoying her company contrary to the promise he made to her before coming.
-Unfortunately for Mr. Bindow, Hadiza has snapped him naked while he was with her (I am in possession of 2 of those pictures).
- She reached out and sent the pictures to the governor's close associate Alh. Sa'adu Maidawa after Bindow refused to pick her calls since he left her in the hotel.
- Alh. Maidawa then called Aliyu Boya who is close to Gabon and intimated him on the latest development after which they met and moved straight to the governor's office.
- On meeting Bindow with the issue & while trying to show him the pictures, he quickly dragged them into the toilet where they showed him the pictures of himself naked in the room and told him that Hadiza is threatening to release them if she is not given another car and the millions promised he promised. Bindow had earlier bought a N7m Toyota Venza for Hadiza Gabon some few months back. .
-As at yesterday, Hadiza Gabon has received atleast N20m and is still expecting another car and more cash from Bindow or she will release the pictures.
- Adamawa teachers & LG workers are dying of hunger while the likes of Hadiza Gabon and other Kannywood slay queens have turned the state to an ATM machine.
-Whether Hadiza Gabon release those pictures or not, I will release the 2 in my possession at the appropriate time.

CHRISTIAN ELDERS AND THE ISLAMISATION CLAIM By Igho Hakeem Ohwojehere

CHRISTIAN ELDERS AND THE ISLAMISATION CLAIM

By Igho Hakeem Ohwojehere

A lot of us were shocked when some Christian elders met and issued a statement that alleged plans to Islamise Nigeria by the Buhari government. Many people responded with arguments that put these so-called elders to shame. Among them is the writer of the piece below, whose response deserves to be read widely for maximum effect. Please read on.

As was rightly observed some other time, Nigerian Christian leaders are in crisis. They have followers who see little or nothing wrong in alcoholism, fornication/adultery, obscene Music and public nudity. Their crisis is further worsened by the fact that even within their ranks are renown sexual predators and voodoo priests claiming to be pastors, bishops and prophets.

In the Christian-dominated Southern part of the country, young girls in Junior and Senior Secondary School are compelled to wear tight and short uniforms that make bare their developed and developing bodies. Pornographic materials are sold in the open and majority of young girls become sexually active long before their thirteenth birthday.

Christian Elders and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have never for once released a statement to pressure the Government or policy makers to arrest this absurdities in our society. We have not read any communique from any Christian group condemning contents of approved text books and novels that are immoral and obscene.

CAN, Christian Elders and every other Christian body have never issued a statement demanding that the government explain why pornographic websites are accessible in the country. They have never queried the Government of any state for compelling schoolgirls to dress in tight and exposing uniforms.

We see media reports of pastors and so called men of God defiling young girls and engaging in extramarital affairs, but we have not heard of CAN and Christian leaders doing anything to stop this or even take responsibility for it. The only thing CAN and Christian Elders are concerned about are Muslims and Islam. Christian leaders and politicians in the 1960s invented the illusion of some Muslims plotting to forcefully Islamise the country to elicit British support and score political points. In fact, in 1966 prominent Muslim leaders and politicians were slaughtered by Christian military officers who accused them of planning to Islamise Nigeria. Up till today they are still blackmailing Muslims with the accusation of Islamisation while they have successfully Christianised the country.

These allegations will keep coming as long as it remains the only way Christian leaders in the country can galvanise their base in an attempt to remain relevant. The fact that they have turned churches into dance halls with young girls having excessive make-up and tight clothes roaming the halls, has not made the average Christian more committed to Christianity and the Christian establishment. The average Christian still loves and idolises misfits like Davido, WizKid, Dbanj and others that sing about their private parts, the breast and backside of women. The average Nigeria Christian still prefers beer parlours, gambling centres and night clubs to religious gatherings.

As Muslims, we know our community is not perfect. We still suffer from violent and nonviolent extremism within us, but we have acknowledged our challenges and we are striving to contain it. Muslim leaders do not pass irresponsible and wide accusations at Christians. Our brothers in the military had never taken up arms against their Christian colleagues or Christian leaders.

Muslims ruled this country for years as military and civilians, yet they never made any attempt to undermine the Christians of this country. When IBB registered Nigeria with the OIC, Christians protested and as a compromise, the colonial entity of Israel was given diplomatic recognition by the IBB government, to the dismay of Muslims and to please the country’s Christian population who, for whatever reason, feel obligated to support the murderous and criminal entity of Israel.

This perceived fear of Islamisation is the only tool Christian leaders have with which to mobilise their base and it is the only thing that works for them. President Buhari is so hated today, not because of any thing wrong he did, but because he is a committed Muslim. They hate the fact that eighteen out of thirty six ministers are Muslims, leaving “just” eighteen to Christians. This is the only Government that has dared appointed an equal number of Muslims and Christians as Ministers. Barely over 30% of federal workers are Muslims and over 60% are Christians and the fear is that the government may take steps to regularise this irregularity. So they start whining, nagging and crying foul before hand, over what may likely never happen. Their hatred for Buhari has even extended to the Vice President who is a Pastor, an accomplished Senior Advocate and Professor of Law. These people have no morals, no code of conduct, no decency and no honour.

Muslims of this country have bent their backs to accommodate Christian demands because we acknowledge that the country belongs to all of us. Nigeria is already Christianised enough, as it is, yet we are not running to the market to shout like badly brought up children or jealous housewives making offensive claims and insinuations.

So we are clear, we will continue to strive to make Islam triumph, the same way every conscious Christian would strive and prefer that Christianity shall triumph. We have no doubt that if we diligently convey the message of Islam to non-Muslims, they will choose Islam over any and every other religion. We have no time to cry foul because we have the goods and we know for certain that everything is in the Hands of Allah, the Creator. No amount of blackmail or stupid ranting can change Allah’s decree.

THE ORIGIN OF THE NAME, BIAFRA?

THE ORIGIN OF THE NAME, BIAFRA?

The town of Biafara or Biafra comes up in a 1584 map by Abraham Ortelius from Antwerp in modern day Belgium where it is shown to be located on the south bank (some later descriptions say north) of the 'Camarones River' ("Camarones fl." [flumen]). This 1584 edition of an atlas by Ortelius is considered as the first proper atlas, depicting Africa with inland towns named. The Camarones River where Cameroon gets its name (from the Portuguese word for prawns), is known today as the Wouri River, the Portuguese navigator and explorer, Fernão do Pó, whose name was given to Bioko Island in Equatorial Guinea, was the first European up the river in 1472. It was from a town identified as 'Biafra' or 'Biafara' on the river that the area east of the Benin Empire, which it was often visually indicated to be equal to, and down to Gabon was named Biafara and later on the coast of these areas known as the Bight of Biafra.

Biafra was described as the capital of a kingdom with the same name and this town continued to show up on maps in the same location on the same river. This kingdom, however, does not seem to exist today; if these maps are correct in terms of the location of this town, 'Biafra' would be somewhere near the Cameroonian town of Yabassi today, which is also on the Wouri River. Certainly, 'Biafra' would be in the Nkam department of the Littoral Province in Cameroon, which is where Yabassi is today, which is also the Cameroonian department that the Wouri runs through. The exact location of the town, or wether this town existed or not, has not been ascertained, it could be that the town and kingdom were completely made up or was an amalgam of various kingdoms such as the kingdom of Bamum and other territories, in any case, the town and 'kingdom' of Biafra was removed from maps in the 19th century.

In addition, there is also an ethnic group in the Senegambian area called the Biafada which has been compared to Biafra, however, in geographical dictionaries of the 18th century, entries for the Biafada people (as the Biafares) are separate from the supposed 'Kingdom of Biafra', in these dictionaries the Biafada people are described as a people in Senegambia meaning that the Biafra on the Camarones and the Biafada people of Senegambia were not considered to be the same by earlier Europeans.

Also interesting to note is that less than 100 miles from Yabassi and the Wouri River is the town of Bafia of the Bafia or Bekpak people, although the origin of the name Bafia, which is an exonym, is unknown and may have been given to the Bekpak people, who do not seem to have a kingdom, after colonisation by Europeans in the late 19th century.

Bitter rebuttal to Kwankwasiyya by Malam Muhammad Garba

RE:KWANKWASO'S ASSOCIATE REPLIES TINUBU:GANDUJEWILLL LOSE IN 2019

By Malam Muhammad Garba

On Sunday, 16 July, national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu visited Kano. His primary mission was to commiserate with the state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on the death of elder statesman, Dr. Yusuf Maitama Sule (Dan Massanin Kano) and also on the death of the governor’s younger sister. The former governor of Lagos state also visited elder statesman and respected politician, Malam Yusuf Ali who recently lost his son.

In his remarks at the residence of Malam Yusuf Ali, Tinubu who has been following the landmark achievements of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, spoke glowingly on the governor’s performance, and at the end, endorsed him for a second term in 2019.

In the words of Tinubu, “Our brother, Ganduje, Your Excellency, you are saying eight years, some people are saying twelve years; but if you put coma in any line of the constitution, that is an amendment. So, I endorse eight years. We will work for it with all our body and soul. You are a great man--and you are a very very loyal man. One thing that we must note in His Excellency, Governor Ganduje, is this--he is one of the most straightforward, dependable individual. When you agree on something, or in the words of Donald Trump, 'do a deal with him,' you can go to sleep because you will be the one to break that accord, not him. Ganduje, I want to say thank you. You are so humble, so dependable. You are a friend that is completely flexible. You have the understanding of family and friendship. So, if you say eight years, yes; before you add the other four years, I say watch--that other four years, maybe, as a governor, maybe, as a president. So, we will wait; let us amortize the eight years first."

Tinubu’s comments about Ganduje came straight from his heart. He spoke very frankly and he relayed to his audience that he was not pretending at all. Tinubu is a respected politician who is known for his frankness on issues. He is not someone that could be bought over. He is a man of integrity who addresses issues with maturity. He has a good sense of judgment. So, one cannot say that Tinubu spoke from both sides of his mouth.

Tinubu’s comment on Ganduje's sterling leadership qualities, immediately spread like wild fire. It was all over the social media. Millions of Ganduje  supporters in Kano, and across the country,  showed their happiness that their able and dependable governor got such accolades from one of the most respected politicians in Africa—Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

However, it is not a surprise that some few disgruntled elements would get ruffled by Tinubu’s compliments and endorsement of Governor Ganduje’s second term bid, of which the Kano electorate have already assured him, going by the way and manner he is handling the affairs of the state. We were, indeed, waiting for reactions and it came on a story published in online portal, Premium Times on Tuesday, July 18, titled ‘Kwankwaso’s associate replies Tinubu: Ganduje will lose in 2019.’

In that story, Comrade Abdulsalam Aminu, former Commissioner for State Affairs in the last administration of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, did what he knows how to do best—spreading lies. He could not hide his emotions and he showcased to his readers how much he hated Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He presented how bad the Kwankwassiyya people are feeling over the way Ganduje has been giving democracy dividends to the people. He also told the world how jittery they are, particularly, on the praises showered on Ganduje by Tinubu who is one of the pillars of our great party, the APC.

According to Comrade Abdulsalam Aminu, Ganduje cannot go for second term in 2019 because the Kwankwassiyya people have decided otherwise! Ganduje cannot make it in 2019 because he failed to carry on with the Kwankwassiyya ideology---an ideology of debt and deception. We are not blind followers! Comrade Abdulsalam Aminu believes Ganduje cannot make it in 2019 because he refused to become a victim of godfatherism at the detriment of the good people of Kano state---this is laughable because Governor Ganduje remains an astute administrator and patriotic leader who will not compromise the people’s mandate.

Again, I want to remind Comrade Abdulsalam Aminu that power belongs to Almighty God and He gives it to whoever he wishes. I personally don't believe any mortal has the authority to give power, it is the exclusive right of God to hand over power to who ever he wishes. In 1999, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso became the Governor of Kano state through the will of God. He tried the second term in 2003, but could not make it, because it was not the will of God that he continued. In 2011, Senator Kwankwaso tried again and was lucky because God made it so. Today, he is a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria through the will of God. So, in this light, Comrade Abdulsalam Aminu does not have the right to determine whether Governor Ganduje will return to power in 2019 or not. What God has written, He has written, Comrade Abdulsalam Aminu can not rewrite it.

For discernable minds, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has been doing a great job even in the face of harsh economic situation created by the immediate past administration of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who left over N300 billion debts, with various abandoned projects of which over 90 percent has already been completed by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration. Just recently, the Ganduje administration paid over N4 billion of backlog of debts of scholarships awarded by Kwankwaso’s administration in private schools at both local and foreign institutions. Kwankwaso failed to settle those bills, not because the money was not there but because he decided to use public funds to execute his failed presidential ambition in 2015.

Comrade Abdulsalam Aminu also raised the issue of tuition fees and free feeding. I want to remind him that the free feeding programme failed towards the end of Kwankwaso’s administration when he collected Local Government funds to build five kilometer roads in each of the 44 local government areas, a project that was marred by fraud. More so, Comrade Abdulsalam Aminu spends most of his time in Abuja serving the needs of his master. I wonder how an Abuja resident can evaluate water situation in Kano. Residents of Kano have not complained of shortage of water supply because there is portable water in Kano and the people are happy for it.

Comrade Abdulsalam Aminu also made his readers to believe that Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is unpopular in Kano. This is the latest joke of the year! He asked his readers to go to Sabon Gari, Singer and Kantin Kwari markets to test Ganduje’s popularity! And these are markets which are currently going through serious reforms by the Ganduje administration, particularly, the Kwari textile market where multi-billion Naira structures and infrastructure are currently being constructed. However, we can leave the test of Ganduje’s popularity to working journalists and editors of various media organization who recently visited Kano and moved round with His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. They can attest how people trooped out in their thousands to hail Governor Ganduje. They can attest the numerous projects they visited in all sectors, including provision of infrastructure and social amenities, massive construction of roads, revolution in agriculture, women and youth empowerement, reforms in the health sector, commerce and industry, as well as general overhaul of the economy and attraction of both local and foreign investors. Kano residents would always raise their two hands indicating four plus four, a sign of Ganduje’s second term endorsement by the people who have not failed in appreciating his good work in Kano.

So, we advise Comrade Abdulsalam Aminu to spend his time and energy on serious issues. It is not honourable for him to dwell in spreading lies and falsehood on the administration of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who is performing creditably in Kano. He is the people’s governor, he has won the heart of the people and there is nothing detractors like Comrade Abdulsalam Aminu and his pay master can do about it. They can only rant!

Socking: Nigeria in great DANGER.

Centre alerts Osinbajo on attempt by groups to rubbish Nigeria’s sovereignty

The Center for International and Strategic Studies, Abuja has unraveled plots by some foreign backed groups to destabilise and rubbish the sovereignty of the country.

A research work carried out by CISS revealed how some foreign elements have perfected plans to use some NGOs to further their evil agenda in the Nigeria.

The centre, in its recomendations called on the acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo to sit up as the foreign elements have succeeded in poisoning the hearts of some Nigerians to cause confusion.

The research authored by Professor Shuabu Danfulani, a professor of law and Dr. Ifure Ataifure, Secretary General of the Centre gave names of 23 persons and several organisations that may have been bought over by the foreign forces.

The Centre urged the Acting President and the Nigerian security agencies to study its report and recommendations in the overall interest of the country’s sovereignty and its people.

The full report of the research addressed to the Acting President as obtained by our correspondent is attached below.

The Centre for International and Strategic studies wishes to bring to your notice a well-orchestrated plot by some group of persons masquerading under the umbrella of civil society organisations to destabilise Nigeria through their activities.
The groups, though bearing different names, however, their message are alarmingly the same in concept and dissemination.

Your Excellency, in the light of the above, the Centre for International and Strategic Studies commissioned a research work to bring to the knowledge of the Nigerian government this destabilisation plot, its masterminds and examples of the similarities in the conceptualisation and delivery of their messages.

This study identified three organisations: Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Inter-Society) and Amnesty International (AI)

Your Excellency, please find enclosed the research document and findings, which in our opinion would assist the relevant security agencies in the country, further understand the peculiarity of these organisations with a view to designing and implementing an appropriate counter-strategy.

Please accept the assurances of my highest regards.

IPOB, Inter-Society and AI: An Inquest

Introduction:
It is no longer news that there has been agitation for the resurgence of the state of Biafra by individuals and groups. Most prominent in this regard is the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the headship of Nnamdi Kanu. Much as this sounds reasonable in the ears of the ordinary, however, this research work was able to establish a nexus between IPOB as led by Nnamdi Kanu, The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law ( Inter-Society) led by one Emeka Umeagbalasi.

Nnamdi Kanu and Emeka Umeagbalusi share certain characteristics. They are both Igbo by the tribe and also active supporters of the activities of Amnesty International in Nigeria. While Nnamdi Kanu’s IPOB readily associates with Amnesty International on the narrative of “killing of peaceful pro-Biafran demonstrators, whom Amnesty International have tagged “Activists.”

On the other hand, Emeka Umeagbalusi was at a time the Onitsha Pre-Group Coordinator of Amnesty International. Emeka Umeagbalusi has never hidden his disdain for the Nigerian government and by extension the Chief of Army Staff. He has continually employed the use of uncouth languages press releases from his organization.

This paper identified that the deliberate attempt by these group to destabilize the peace and tranquillity experienced in the country was well-thought through and implemented in a systemic way that could easily pass through detection by the relevant security agencies. The trio has also capitalized on the religious and ethnic volatilities in the country to continue to advance their agenda without fail.

IPOB, Inter-Society and Amnesty International are organizations masquerading under the umbrella of justice and respect for the rule of law, when in truth; they are acting script that falls within a destabilization plot to cause unrest in the country by fanning the embers of disunity through but not limited to hate speeches, ethnicity, and religion.

This study relied on random interviews, newspaper reports, press releases and other published materials domiciled in the public space.

The Messengers:

Your Excellency, it is important at this point to give a background on the leaders of IPOB and Inter-Society.

• Nnamdi Kanu is the leader of IPOB/ Emeka Umeagbalasi is the leader of Inter-Society.
• Emeka Umeagbalasi is former chairman of the Civil Liberties Organization in Anambra State as well as its vice chairman of the Southeast zone. He was also the Onitsha Pre-Group Coordinator of Amnesty International, formerly Nigerian Section.
The Similarities in Content:

The groups have identified that religious and ethnic sensitivities can be exploited. Consequently, the content of their messages has centred on Hate Speech, Religious and Ethnic Extermination and paramount compensation for the supposed “victims of Nigeria’s cruelty.”

Facts Sheet:
1. In a statement issued in Umahia and signed by a certain publicity Secretary by name Comrade Emma Powerful on June 20, 2017, “IPOB berates Osinbajo for saying group’s actions violate Nigeria’s constitution.

2. “We the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu condemn unequivocally the distasteful statement credited to the Acting President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osibanjo, to the effect that Biafra agitators who through the instrumentality of IPOB are exercising their God-given and inalienable right to self determination, is in violation of the provisions of the General Abdulsalami Abubakar 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.

“For such a statement to escape the lips of a learned fellow like Prof. Osinbajo confirms the widely held view that African leaders lack the mental capacity and discipline to operate a constitutional democracy in a modern world.”

2. In a statement on March 13, 2017, a group by the nomenclature International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law (INTERSOCIETY), “Pay Biafra victims, others $5bn compensation, group tells Buhari”
“The Buhari Administration/Federal Government of Nigeria should set aside $5bn for adequate compensation of over 1750 victims of state murders and 4000 victims of Police SARS/Army custodial killings as well as not less than 28000 unarmed Christians killed by Nomad Fulani Jihadists between June 2015 and January 2017.

“The $5billion State Crime Victims Compensation Scheme, which will be subject to 50 percent upward review every five years ; should be divided into four categories of : $1bn to members or families and group-victims (IPOB) of over 270 slain members of IPOB and other Pro-Biafra Campaigners; $500m to over 370 terminally shot and injured Pro-Biafra Campaigners; $1.5bn to 1120 slain members of the Shiite Muslims and their IMN as well as $500m for 400 of their members terminally shot and wounded.

“The sum of $500m should be set aside by the Buhari Government/Federal Government of Nigeria through its Ministry of Police Affairs for compensation of 4000 victims who may most likely have been slain in the past 20 months, by way of custodial killings arising from torture and wilful custodial shootings.

“This should be done on the basis of proper identification of dead victims by their immediate families and lawyers.

The remaining $1bn should be paid by the Buhari Government to the families and the churches of over 2800 dead Christians who are victims of the Nomad Fulani Jihadists in Nigeria since June 2015.”

The Messages:

It was identified that the message has been centred on Hate Speech, and Incitement

• In a press statement entitled: “Igbo Heroes Day Massacre & Wicked Regime Falsehood: We Foresee Uprising & Retaliatory Justice,” by Emeka Umeagbalasi,
“The Muhammadu Buhari, Tukur Buratai, Solomon Arase and Willie Obiano of Nigeria’s present disastrous democracy and their killer-subordinates are steadily pushing Nigeria back to the Hobbesian era where life was brutish, short, nasty and disease prone; and where retaliatory and jungle justice and cannibalism were the order of the day.”

• In a press statement Igbo Traitors – IPOB labels igbo leaders who visited Buhari after massacre at Nkpor. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in a press statement has described a group of Igbo elders who visited President Buhari after security forces massacred some of its members who were praying and observing remembrance day for Biafran fallen heroes at Nkpor junction in Anambra State as Igbo traitors. According to the statement by Dr. Clifford Iroanya, IPOB’s Coordinator, he said, those igbo’s who rushed to see Buhari only went to congratulate him for killing Biafrans and not to condemn his murderous act. Therefore, it is left for Biafrans to decide what to do with these traitors; He said.

• IPOB commends Amnesty International’s report on killing of Biafra agitators. “The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its Directorate of State, DOS, said it totally agreed with Amnesty International reports concerning the incessant killing of Biafrans. IPOB in a statement signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary Mr. Emma Powerful said the report has proved IPOB right, but added that they will continue to be in the forefront of the struggle for the restoration of Biafra nation in spite of the incessant killing of their members. “IPOB’s records and statistics department gathered from all parts of Biafraland, revealed that we have over 2000 members killed, 750 missing since then till date, we have not seen their dead bodies and we are still searching for them. We also have 567 members under-going medical treatment in different hospitals.”:

• Zaria Massacre: Human Rights Organizations award Sheikh Zakzaky.
“The Collusion of Nigerian Print, Broadcast Media with Buhari’s Genocidal Regime”
The Southeast Based Coalition of Human Rights Organizations (SBCHROs) comprising of 12 human and civil rights organizations in the Southeast have adopted Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, the revered leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) with Prisoner-Of-Conscience POS prestigious award whether dead or alive.

The coalition of Human Rights organizations named the leader of the movement on account of his long detention without trial and no traces of individual or group violence linked to his name against government and people of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This is contained in a statement signed by the leader of the Southeast Based Coalition of Human Rights Organizations Emeka Umeagbalasi titled

Amnesty International accuses Nigerian military of covering up Zaria killings. Amnesty International (AI), the global watchdog of human right abuses, has accused the Nigerian military of “mass slaughter of hundreds of men, women and children” in Zaria and attempting to cover-up the incident, which it said demonstrates an “utter contempt for human life and accountability.” The true horror of what happened over those two days in Zaria is only now coming to light. Bodies were left littered in the streets and piled outside the mortuary. Some of the injured were burned alive”

Sponsored Attacks On Amnesty International: Another Dimension To Raging State Terror In Nigeria

(Intersociety & SBCHROs, Nigeria: 22nd March 2017)-The leaderships of International Society for Civil Liberties & the Rule of Law (Intersociety) and Southeast Based Coalition of Human Rights Organizations (SBCHROs) are deeply shocked and dismayed concerning the ongoing sponsored attacks by the agents of the Federal Government of Nigeria against the Nigerian Section of Amnesty International, using hired street urchins and laptop based groups; claiming to be human rights groups.

“The ongoing State terror and campaigns of calumny against the authorities of Amnesty International also expose the present Government’s gross illiteracy and ignorance on the workings of modern international relations and diplomacy which are strongly traditionalized in human rights and citizens’ sovereignty without borders.

They further expose same as highly intolerant political leadership and gross and unrepentant rights abuser. The panicky response of the Buhari Administration by sponsoring the ongoing attacks against AI is a clear admission of guilt and un-readiness and unwillingness of same to make amends over its grossly poor human rights abuses.
Rather than beating about the bush by involving itself in this type of infamy and show of shame, the Buhari Administration must as a matter of inexcusability, investigate all the gross rights abuses raised in the AI Reports as well as the recent Special Report of Intersociety (Welcome To Bleeding Republic Of Nigeria: A Land Flowing With Blood & Tears). All those involved in the gross rights abuses must be fished out, dismissed from Service and prosecuted. Adequate compensations to the tune of $5Billion must be set aside for the compensation of identified group and individual victims of State crimes. Further State killings and Nomad Fulani Jihadist killings such as the latest butchery in Benue State must be halted and those responsible fished out and punished.”

Findings:
The findings of the research work, revealed that the principal actors in Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB and Emeka Umeagbalasi of Inter-Society are leaders of what seems like two different organisations with different nomenclatures, but in reality, they are spreading the same message “ hate, incitement, disregard for constituted authority, provocation, false accusations”

This research was able to deduce that IPOB and by extension are also in the extortion game. The example below suggests so:

“IPOB issues 48-hour ultimatum to Emeka Umeagbalasi & his INTERSOCIETY”
“The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Monday described as sponsored and spurious allegations that it was being sponsored by the Anambra State Governor and certain other individuals

The Allegation:
“A group, INTERSOCIETY had listed Obiano, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and several other individuals and groups as sponsors of pro-Biafra activities.”
The Response:

We have found it necessary therefore to issue this ultimatum to Emeka Umeagbalasi and his INTERSOCIETY.

“If at the expiry of the next 48 hours he fails to publish incontrovertible evidence to buttress his allegations against the leader of IPOB and others he mentioned their names, he will bear the consequences of whatever legal action IPOB chooses to take. For those that may not understand, what Emeka Umeagbalasi is trying to do, is to use the scare tactics of publicly naming a few politicians in order to frighten potential donors away from supporting IPOB because they will feel their names will be exposed to the public.

Analysis:
• From the conversation, there are donors that Emeka Umeagbalasi and his group Inter-Society are trying to chase away “in order to frighten potential donors away from supporting IPOB”. The question is who would want to support the activities of IPOB and for what purpose?
–Igbo Businessmen?
– State Governors?
– Foreign governments?

Examples:
Ekweremadu, Peter Obi, 21 Others Named As Sponsors Of Biafra Agitation

A group known as the Society for Civil Liberties & the Rule of Law (Intersociety) and Southeast Based Coalition of Human Rights Organizations (SBCHROs) has named some persons it claims are allegedly funding the Biafra agitators.
The group, according to Daily Times, alleged that deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state, and former governor of Anambra, Peter Obi were all part of those funding the Biafra agitators.
We learnt that the group recently alleged that Governor Willie Obiano gave car and cash gifts to the IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu. The group in its statement listed those allegedly funding the Biafra agitators to include:
1. Amnesty International
2. Alaigbo Development Foundation
3. Igbo Youth Movement
4. Ike Ekweremadu
5. Peter Obi
6. Joe Achuzi
7. US Embassy in Nigeria
8. Mike Akuoma
9. Ugochukwu Chinwuba
10. Ikechukwu Okoye
12. Prince Emeka Onyeso
13. Okechukwu Nwanguma
14. Aloysius Attah
15. Ibuchukwu Ezike
16. Tochukwu Ezeoke and his Igbo Ekunie group
17. Justus and Justine Ijeomas
18. Alex Olisa, Damian Ugwu
19. Damian Ogudike, Tools & Allied Market and its leadership
20. Ekwenche Group, USA
21. Uche Asiegbu
22. George Onyeibe
23. Samuel Kamanyoku and others.

According to the group, these patrons of the Biafra movement were diverting resources meant for improving the lives of Nigerians to the pro-Biafra groups to finance their insurgency.

Brother to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, Emmanuel Kanu has disclosed that the Turkish government is seeking ways of partnering with IPOB’s leadership.

Emmanuel, in a statement said Turkish government was seeking to partner with IPOB leadership in the areas of infrastructural programmes designed to promote education, roads reconstruction and other projects.

He said this was made known during a meeting between “the very first emissary sent to Biafra land by the Turkish government, Abdulkadir Erkahraman and representatives of IPOB.

“During the visit, Erkahraman said he came to seek ways to partner IPOB leadership and Biafrans in general in the areas of infrastructural programs designed to promote education, roads re-construction and other projects which will be unveiled in no distant time.”

According to Emmanuel, Erkahraman said “Biafrans are very hard working and great people to work with.”

He noted that the Turkish government would welcome a transparent and trustworthy relationship with the leadership of IPOB represented by kanu.

– Why would Turkey want to identify with IPOB?
– Is there a possibility that monies exchanged hands during the visit of the Turkish citizen to Nnamdi Kanu?
– Is there a possibility that from the listed names, some might have in one way or the other supported IPOB with cash?
– Is there a possibility that Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB and Emeka Umeagbalasi of Inter-Society parted ways because of money?
– Is there a possibility that both men are trying to outwit each other?

Conclusion:
There are pointers to two things: One is the similarities of the message, and the other is the quest to outwit each other. IPOB and Inter-Society in the opinion of this research work are acting a script but under a well-disguised umbrella. From the earlier stages, both actors seemed friends, but later in the day, they fell apart. Why?

While it would be dangerous to assume that the various actors in the recent surge in the agitation for the actualization of the State of Biafra are carrying out their activities based on genuine concern and that there are no foreign sponsors of their operations. It would also be dangerous for the relevant authorities not to scrutinize the motives and objectives of IPOB, Inter-Society and Amnesty International.

This research work was able to identify that there exists a nexus between Inter-Society and Amnesty International. One of the facts is that Emeka Umeagbalasi was formerly of Amnesty International. He was the Onitsha Pre-Group Coordinator of Amnesty International.

BOKO HARAM ADOPTING NEW TACTICS IN SUICIDE BOMB ATTACKS

BOKO HARAM ADOPTING NEW TACTICS IN SUICIDE BOMB ATTACKS

Following regular interception of Boko Haram terrorists suicide bombers by troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE and the serial failures that have trailed their suicide bomb attacks, recent developments indicate that the terrorist group is now exploiting deceptive tactics to lure unsuspecting members of the public to target areas before detonating their suicide bomb in order to attain maximum casualty.
It has been observed that one of the tactics employed by the terrorists is to create a scene such as fighting with each other or any other person to attract attention and cause people to gather around them before they detonate their suicide bomb. Another antic is by abducting children who are on errands, strapping them with suicide vests and sending them back home, where the suicide bomb  detonates to kill members of the household.
These deceptive tactics have been found to have played out in recent suicide bomb attacks carried out by the Boko Haram terrorists.
Members of the public are therefore urged to be wary of these tactics and avoid such unnecessary gatherings that could expose them to preventable danger. Additionally, all parents and adults are advised to sensitize their children and wards on these new Boko Haram tricks. They are also urged to be conscious of the whereabouts of their children and rein them in where necessary to prevent them from being callously used by the terrorists for the evil mission of suicide bombing.
