On Benue Killings:
Enough of the Hypocrisy
By Mfon Offiong
Most of us on this platform are just here to lend our voice to public discourse. But when people begin to make stupid and hypocritical statement laced with malice and mischief; it need to be queried.
In June last year, over 130 Fulani people were killed as hundreds of Fulani villages on the Mambilla Plateau were raided. How was it handled? I didn't hear people call the president or Osibanjo the acting president then all sorts of names. There was defeaning silence all over social media.
In November last year, over 60 Fulanis, including women and children were again murdered in cold blood in Shaforon, Kikem and Kodemti villages in Numan Adamawa state. What did PMB do? How did he intervene? Was he called out for not protecting his people? He allowed the governor, security agencies and community leaders to deal with it.
All life is valuable so commentators should stop the hypocrisy. Condemning the killings is in order. It has happened in Kaduna, Plateau, Adamawa, Taraba and now Benue. Governors, security agencies and community leaders are in a position to find lasting solution to these problems. Anyone that has a suggestion on what to be done should proffer it not hypocritical wailing and name calling on social media.
